A LONG, LOST LAWREN HARRIS HAS BEEN FOUND

A Unique Layered Composition Style
This method of construction was not limited just to Harris’s rough compositions but his refined studio works suffered from this malady as well. A close examination of these two paintings are especially revealing to this foreground to background layering construction.
In the Toronto work the construction is obvious but in the Kempenfelt Bay work examine the water line, the back shore, the foliage and then the sky. They were all painted with great skill after the trees where placed.
